Dairy development

Villages in rural India are known for the birds and animals which form part of the rural household. Hence SCOPE realized that any income generating scheme which included animals/birds would not only get the cooperation of villagers but also ensure that such schemes succeeded.

More than 100 High breed cows have been given to women, through various projects undertaken with the assistance of CEVA, HPI, EZE, Solidarity, etc. A women co-operative milk society with 70 members is successfully functioning in this village. A farm house complex with high breed cows is functioning at Thanneerpandal. A veterinary clinic is also functioning here. Its services include AI (artificial insemination) to upgrade animals. To guide and assist the people in the upkeep of cattle population, barefoot veterinarian training programme has been organised at Thanneerpandal.

20 persons from different organisations benefited from this training, enabling them to develop animal husbandry in the areas assigned to them by the respective organisations.

Goat rearing and Poultry
As an allied agricultural activity, poultry and goat rearing plays a vital role in the sustenance and development of rural communities. Therefore these activities were promoted in the villages. Goat rearing and poultry development, specially with high breed ‘Giri raja’ Chicks yielded good results.
