Water is the most essential natural resource
for life, next to air and is likely to become a scarce resource
in the world in the coming decade. As water and land are two
basic resources great care should be taken to conserve them
through preservation against loss / waste.
Technically,
conservation of land and water imply the same in a much wider
perspective. Briefly, it means putting the land and water resources
of a nation to optimum use with available technology .. In other
words surface water being wasted in the sea and soil erosion
should be stopped and other losses minimized to the maximum
with priority for drinking, irrigation, domestic, municipal,
industrial, navigational, recreational and power generation
uses. Also if land and water are managed efficiently it will
reduce the intensity of drought and water scarcity.
